External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday held extensive talks with his American counterpart Antony Blinken in Tokyo, amidst growing unease in India-US relations following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia three weeks ago.

Jaishankar and Blinken are attending a meeting of the Quad's foreign ministers. Their meeting coincides with ongoing US demands for accountability from India in the alleged foiled plot to kill Sikh extremist Gurupatwant Singh Pannun in New York.

Prime Minister Modi's Moscow visit and the murder-for-hire plot may have been discussed during the talks, though this remains unconfirmed. Jaishankar mentioned on social media that their discussions encompassed regional and global issues, while Blinken emphasized deepening US-India collaboration and upholding commitments to regional peace and security. The Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Gaza situation were noted as part of the dialogue.
