Mata Prasad Pandey Appointed Leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly
The Samajwadi Party has named Mata Prasad Pandey as the new leader of opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He replaces Akhilesh Yadav, who resigned after being elected to the Lok Sabha. The Samajwadi Party on Sunday appointed Mata Prasad Pandey as the leader of opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
Pandey will replace SP president Akhilesh Yadav, who resigned from the Karhal seat following his election to the Lok Sabha from Kannauj.
A party leader stated that Yadav has appointed Pandey, an SP MLA from Itwa, to the position during a meeting at the SP headquarters.
Pandey, a Brahmin by caste, is also known for his tenure as a former speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
