Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday criticized the Union budget, highlighting the absence of any mention of Maharashtra in Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's speech. Thackeray alleged a deliberate bias against the state, despite it being the largest taxpayer in the country.

Taking to X, Thackeray accused the Centre of 'looting' Maharashtra by installing a 'corrupt regime' and burdening the state with taxes. He questioned the BJP's motives, noting the significant allocations for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. 'I can understand the BJP wanting to save its government and giving Bihar and Andhra Pradesh a huge sum of the budget. But what is Maharashtra's fault?' he asked.

In the 2024-25 budget, Sitharaman announced Rs 15,000 crore for the development of Andhra Pradesh's capital city and proposed an outlay of Rs 26,000 crore for various road projects in Bihar. Thackeray's comments reflect ongoing grievances against the BJP's treatment of Maharashtra over the past decade.
