Congress leader Ragini Nayak on Friday sharply criticized the Maharashtra government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their handling of two recent sexual assault cases – one involving minors in a Badlapur school and another concerning the rape-murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The incidents occurred on August 9, 11, and 12, sparking massive protests and resulting in logistics disruptions, including a 10-hour halt in train services in the Thane district.
Nayak lambasted the Eknath Shinde government for its delay in filing an FIR in the Badlapur case, criticizing them for only moving forward after public protests and deriding officials for their initial inaction, which was condemned by the Bombay High Court.
