AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday criticized the DMK government, alleging that 595 murders have taken place in Tamil Nadu within 200 days. He condemned the high incidence of crime, stating that many individuals who have made murder their profession are causing violence across the state.

In a statement, Palaniswami noted the police's struggles in finding the culprits. He highlighted murders of party members from various affiliations, including Congress's Tirunelveli leader Jayakumar, AIADMK's Shanmugam from Salem, and Naam Tamilar Katch's Balasubramanian from Madurai.

The former chief minister urged the DMK government to take immediate action to protect the populace. He pointed out that, apart from a few exceptions, the real perpetrators remain at large. Mentioning the murder of BSP leader K Armstrong, Palaniswami found it odd that a suspect was killed in an encounter while some voluntarily surrendered.
