On Monday night, Assam Police apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals who illegally entered India from the Tripura side. The individuals were identified as MD Abu Shaid, Asadul Islam, and MD Sarwar, all hailing from Rajshahi district. They were later pushed back to Bangladesh.
One of the apprehended men was found with an Aadhaar card, indicating a second illegal entry attempt into India. All three had plans to travel to Chennai for labor work. Confirming the incident on social media platform X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the infiltrators were quickly pushed back to Bangladesh.
In another incident on the same day, Assam Police intercepted and repatriated Lipi Akhtar from the Dhaka Division. She was detained in Dhubri and handed back to Bangladeshi authorities following an investigation that revealed her entry into India on August 18. A manhunt is underway to trace other accomplices and infiltrators.
In a statement, CM Sarma expressed concern over the increase in illegal infiltration due to the political turmoil in Bangladesh. He emphasized the need for heightened border security, warning that ongoing unrest could push more people to cross over into India. Sarma also raised the alarm about the potential for Bangladesh to become a breeding ground for terrorist activities.
