Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury expressed confidence on Saturday about the introduction of an international flight service between Agartala and Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), the Central government has greenlighted this international flight service, subject to Ministry of Home Affairs' approval for declaring an immigration center at the MBB airport.
Chowdhury revealed that 25 police officers would be engaged to manage immigration facilities at the airport, adding that the state expects the new Bangladeshi government under Dr Muhammad Yunus to support the initiative.
The state cabinet recently approved recruitment for 976 posts, including constables, with results for 1,000 constable positions and 2,500 Group-C positions expected soon.
Chowdhury also highlighted the devastating impact of recent floods in the state, causing an estimated Rs 18,000 crore in damages and slowing economic growth.
