U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has extended an invitation to J.D. Vance, former President Donald Trump's running mate, to join her in a debate on August 13 hosted by CBS, a representative from the Biden-Harris campaign said on Tuesday.

The invitation was reportedly made through a voicemail left by Harris following Vance's selection as Trump's vice-presidential candidate. The Trump campaign has not issued a response at this time, and the Biden campaign similarly declined to comment.

The originally proposed July 23 date for the CBS debate has been dismissed, according to an insider familiar with the discussions.
