President Joe Biden hit the campaign trail on Tuesday for the first time since the assassination attempt on his Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, aiming to clarify the choice voters face this November following the attack.

Biden addressed the NAACP convention in Las Vegas, highlighting his administration's support for Black voters—key to the Democratic coalition and his political base. He also participated in an interview with BET and was scheduled to speak to UnidosUS the following day to appeal to Latino voters, another critical Democratic demographic.

His remarks come amid a crisis of confidence within the Democratic Party, following a shaky debate performance against Trump. Despite mounting calls for him to step aside, Biden insists he is the best Democrat to defeat Trump, leveraging support from Black and Latino politicians. Trump has also been courting these voter groups, hoping to exploit Biden's diminishing favorability. With election stakes high, Biden will announce a proposal to cap rent increases, although it faces Republican resistance in Congress, while Trump has proposed economic policies tailored to Nevada's service industry.
