10 coffee brands from Rwanda will be tasted on February 11 in Xi An, a large city and capital of Shaanxi Province in central China. Three Rwandan coffee brands commenced trading in 2018 on the e-commerce platform Alibaba under the Electronic World Trade Platform.

The event, organized by AfriCo will feature Cafe de Maraba, Gorilla Coffee, Bourbon Coffee, Question Coffee and Three African sisters Coffee among others. The event will be attended by companies, individuals as well as representatives from eight embassies including Somalia, Iran, Tanzania, Senegal, Rwanda, Mauritius and South Africa. The event is focussed on China-Africa cultural exchanges and business cooperation.

“Rwandan coffee is such great quality and more Chinese people should know. The best way to promote Rwandan coffee is to build the Rwanda brand image, make the Chinese customers believe its good taste,” AfriCo’s Co-founder LI Qing said.

According to Dr. Celestin Gatarayiha the Head of Coffee Production and Processing Division at National Agricultural Export Development Board, Rwanda exported 24,000 metric tonnes last year and it fetched about USD 67 million. Rwandan coffee’s constant increasing popularity among the Chinese consumers is motivating the Rwandan farmers to increase production to meet the high requirement.
