In an address on Thursday, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra praised the efficient functioning of panchayats in Kerala, witnessed firsthand during her visit following last year's landslides in the hill district.
Vadra, representing Wayanad in the Lok Sabha, was impressed by the dedication of panchayat members working amid destruction. Highlighting their non-partisan commitment, she stated, "Every person was focused on helping disaster victims." This observation came at the launch of several projects funded by the 'Aspirational Districts Programme'.
During her visit, Vadra also highlighted issues concerning ASHA and Anganwadi workers and the challenges faced under the MGNREGA scheme. Inaugurating new irrigation projects, she stressed the positive impact such initiatives would have on local farmers battling irregular rainfall patterns.
