Stocks Stumble as Year-End Rally Slows
U.S. stock markets opened lower on Monday, with major indexes like the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq dropping points. Sparse trading and rising Treasury yields are impacting the typical year-end boost in equity markets.
The U.S. stock markets started the week on a negative note, with all major indexes opening lower on Monday morning.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 128.3 points, or 0.30%, kicking off the day at 42,863.86.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also followed suit, slipping 50.2 points and 261.6 points, respectively, as concerns about increasing Treasury yields loomed large over an otherwise traditionally optimistic period for equities.
