A young man's demand for a cigarette turned into a violent encounter in Maharashtra's Thane district, resulting in serious injuries for one individual. Police have detained the 18-year-old suspect, Ayaz Khalil Momin, following allegations of attacking Aslam Babu Sheikh at a Bhiwandi hotel early Wednesday.

The altercation reportedly escalated after Momin was asked by Sheikh to share a cigarette while the group of friends dined together. In a fit of anger, Momin allegedly brandished a weapon and assaulted Sheikh, leaving him severely wounded.

Authorities responded quickly to the scene, prompted by a complaint from a witness present during the incident. Momin is now under arrest facing attempted murder charges, while Sheikh is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
