In a tragic incident in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, a mother and her two children died in a house fire early Monday. The victims, Nazia Begum and her children, Amina and Rizwan, were asleep when the blaze erupted, officials reported.
The fire occurred at Khursheed Ahmad's residence in Badhat-Jashar village around 4.30 am. While Khursheed escaped, his wife and children did not survive, local police stated. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, prompting an ongoing investigation.
Nazia's family protested outside the district hospital, alleging the fire was a deliberate act of murder. Authorities, including DSP Ishan Gupta, assured a thorough investigation, and political figures expressed their condolences, promising strict action against those responsible. A separate fire at a boys' hostel in Chatroo caused no casualties.
