Online food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy have responded to a Competition Commission of India (CCI) probe concerning alleged anti-competitive practices. Both companies contend that reports declaring CCI's investigation as conclusive are misleading and underline their adherence to Indian laws.
Zomato, in its regulatory filing, clarified that the CCI's investigation, initiated on April 4, 2022, is still ongoing and has not resulted in any final order regarding the alleged unfair practices, such as preferential treatment to select restaurant partners.
Swiggy echoed similar sentiments, noting that its business conduct investigation by the CCI is in its preliminary stages. The platform added that they are fully cooperating and are yet to receive complete details of the probe to draft a formal response as the inquiry progresses.
