A 40-year-old man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl has been apprehended by police in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, officials announced Monday.
The suspect, Mukesh Jatav, who had a Rs 25,000 reward on his head, was shot in the leg during a brief encounter with law enforcement on Sunday evening, according to Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Sinha.
The incident occurred on November 6 when Jatav allegedly assaulted the minor. After misleading the girl's mother, he took the child away under the pretense of retrieving money from a shopkeeper. Ultimately, the girl was found unconscious in Myana area. The police captured Jatav after he fired at officers during the arrest. He is currently hospitalized due to his injuries.
