A Bengaluru government bus driver faced an unexpected ordeal after being verbally abused and assaulted by an unidentified man. The incident occurred when the bus, which was traveling from Jayanagar to Vijayanagar, stopped at the Haleguddadahalli signal. The attacker, riding a motorcycle, initiated the confrontation.
Despite sustaining injuries, driver Murtuza Imam Saab managed to secure the bus by locking the doors, allowing passengers to help apprehend the assailant. The assailant was subsequently taken to the Byatarayanapura police station. A non-cognizable report was filed, initiating an investigation into the motive behind the attack.
In response, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) stressed their commitment to employee safety, seeking tighter security measures. This includes collaboration with police authorities, as emphasized in discussions with City Police Commissioner B Dayanand. The BMTC vows to implement actions to curb future incidents, ensuring safety and security for both staff and passengers.
