A Delhi court has granted permission to Ratul Puri, nephew of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, to travel abroad despite ongoing money laundering charges linked to a fertiliser scam.
The court has imposed strict conditions to ensure Puri doesn't tamper with evidence or influence witnesses while travelling to Japan, Oman, and Thailand. Judge Jitendra Singh requires Puri to submit an affidavit outlining his travel plans, contact details, and a Rs 25 lakh fixed deposit receipt before departure.
The Enforcement Directorate expressed concerns about Puri's potential influence on witnesses and evidence, emphasizing the severe implications of economic offences. However, the court noted Puri's compliance on previous travel occasions, deciding that appropriate conditions could address the agency's apprehensions.
