The Telangana government will honor Savitribai Phule by celebrating her birth anniversary on January 3 as 'Women Teacher's Day' every year. This decision, formalized in a Government Order issued by State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari on Thursday, pays tribute to Phule's significant contributions to women's education and empowerment.
''It is a matter of pride for all women that the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule will be celebrated as 'Women Teacher's Day','' expressed state Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya Seethakka, who lauded Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for the initiative.
BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao also acknowledged the contributions of Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule in empowering women and supporting underprivileged communities, noting that these efforts had inspired various women empowerment programs implemented during the BRS tenure in power.
