Kolkata Police have intensified their efforts to curb the use of banned firecrackers during the festive season, arresting 292 individuals for violations across the city. The crackdown follows the celebrations of Kali Puja and Diwali, which saw colorful displays and decorated pandals throughout West Bengal.
In addition to the arrests, authorities seized over 500 kg of illegal firecrackers from various locations, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining public order. Despite the festive spirit, the city has seen a concerted effort to uphold laws against firecrackers.
An IPS officer stressed the ongoing nature of the operation, which began on Wednesday with the arrest of 68 individuals and the seizure of nearly 4,000 kg of banned fireworks. The police have vowed to continue their vigilance over the next few days to deter further incidents.
