Allegations of sexual harassment have surfaced against an IPS officer in Haryana, prompting state Women Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia to write to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. She has urged him to transfer the officer or send him on leave while the inquiry is underway.

The allegations emerged via a letter circulating on social media, allegedly signed by seven female cops. On Tuesday, the officer met with the Commission to present his defense, but the hearing prompted a call for preventive measures to ensure the inquiry remains unbiased.

Currently, Fatehabad Superintendent Astha Modi is investigating the claims. So far, statements from 60 out of nearly 150 women police personnel in the district have been recorded to get to the roots of the matter.
