A Class 6 student and a woman were injured in separate firing incidents by forest guards in Assam on Tuesday, officials reported.
The first incident occurred in Nalbari when forest guards missed their target while attempting to disperse elephants, hitting the young student instead. This led to tensions in the area.
In a separate event, eight women collecting firewood in Lumding Reserve Forest came under fire, injuring one seriously. Police investigations are underway in both cases.
