The Supreme Court has granted bail to Amandeep Singh Dhall, a businessman implicated in the alleged excise policy scam corruption case, citing the lengthy period he has spent in jail without the trial progressing.
Presiding Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan highlighted that around 300 witnesses remain to be examined. The court remarked that further detention of Dhall serves no purpose and emphasized that the agency should focus on achieving convictions rather than arrests.
Dhall, facing charges alongside notable figures like AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and BRS leader K Kavitha, had challenged a Delhi High Court decision which had previously denied his bail. His case underscores ongoing allegations that led to policy changes in Delhi's excise regulations.
