The Maharashtra government has declared Thursday a day of mourning to honor the late industrialist Ratan Tata, according to the Chief Minister's Office. Tata, who transformed the Tata Group into a world-renowned conglomerate, passed away at the age of 86 in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday.

As a mark of respect, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the national tricolor on state government offices would be flown at half-mast on October 10. Additionally, the statement noted that there would be no entertainment events held on Thursday.

Members of the public can pay their last respects at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in south Mumbai, where Tata's body will be kept from 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday. The industrialist's last rites are set to take place later in the day in the Worli area of Mumbai.
