Maharashtra Mourns Industrial Icon Ratan Tata

The Maharashtra government has declared a day of mourning following the death of revered industrialist Ratan Tata. Passing away at 86, Tata was instrumental in globalizing the Tata Group. His last rites will be held later in Mumbai, with public tributes scheduled at the NCPA.

Maharashtra is observing a day of mourning on Thursday in honor of the late industrialist Ratan Tata, who passed away at 86. The Chief Minister's Office announced the tribute after Tata succumbed to illness at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai.

Tata, celebrated for elevating the Tata Group to international prominence, had his mortal remains transported from the hospital to his Colaba residence in Mumbai. The process, marked by police escort, commenced shortly after 2 am on Thursday.

Prominent figures, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and industrialist Mukesh Ambani, flocked to the hospital upon hearing the news. The national flag on state government buildings will fly at half-mast, and no entertainment events will occur on the day of mourning. Public visitors may pay respects at the NCPA from 10 am to 3:30 pm. Last rites are scheduled in Worli, Mumbai, later in the day.
