Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has reiterated the importance of cultural heritage by urging parents to choose Tamil names for their children amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha delimitation exercise. Speaking on the topic, Stalin expressed that family planning may be influenced by the redrawing of electoral boundaries.

During a ceremony where he officiated the marriages of 31 couples, the Chief Minister noted that while the delimitation process might tempt couples to consider expanding their families, it should not overshadow the value of smaller, prosperous families. The focus, he insists, should remain on perpetuating Tamil cultural traditions.

Historically, blessings for newlyweds in Tamil Nadu encompass acquiring a prosperous life featuring various forms of wealth, not solely having many children. Stalin emphasized that despite the possible familial expansion stemming from the delimitation exercise, the cultural heritage and the tradition of Tamil names should prevail.
