A 16-year-old girl was tragically set on fire by her ex-boyfriend on the outskirts of Badvel in Kadapa district, following her repeated requests for marriage, law enforcement reported on Sunday.
The accused, J Vignesh, allegedly carried out the horrific act by pouring petrol over the minor and igniting it. The victim was immediately hospitalized at Kadapa RIMS but sadly died from her injuries early Sunday morning, according to Mydukuru sub-divisional police officer Rajendra Prasad.
The investigation reveals that Vignesh, who had ended his relationship with the girl months prior and married another woman, responded violently to her persistent marriage requests. Authorities have charged him under several sections, including the POCSO Act. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the incident, urging a fast-track trial to ensure the accused receives the harshest possible punishment.
