An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrested the in-charge of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Thursday for allegedly accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe. The officer, who was investigating a case against a complainant's family, had demanded Rs 8 lakh initially to clear them of charges.

After the family paid the initial sum, Sub Inspector Yashpal reportedly asked for another Rs 1 lakh to avoid jailing the family, according to the complainant's statement to the ACB. This prompted a raid led by Inspector Dr Nanhi Devi, resulting in Yashpal's arrest at Rajiv Chowk while accepting the bribe.

The ACB has registered a case against Yashpal under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is in the process of questioning the accused. The investigation continues, said a senior ACB officer, as efforts are made to address corruption within the force.
