India has expressed significant concern over the escalating security situation in West Asia, primarily due to intensified clashes in southern Lebanon. With UN peacekeepers caught amid the violence, India's Ministry of External Affairs has stressed the necessity for monitoring developments closely.
In its statement, the MEA emphasized the importance of respecting the inviolability of United Nations premises, urging all parties involved to ensure the safety and security of the peacekeepers and uphold the sanctity of their mandate.
The statement echoes similar concerns from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which reported that recent escalations along the Blue Line have led to widespread destruction in southern Lebanese towns.
