In a significant crackdown, Maharashtra police have arrested a 50-year-old man from Thane district for allegedly manufacturing oxytocin injections illegally, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

The operation was conducted following a tip-off, leading authorities to raid a site in Kalyan town on Tuesday. The suspect was apprehended by a team led by crime unit's senior inspector Ajit Shinde.

During the operation, police seized 1,067 unlabelled bottles of oxytocin, valued at Rs 1.59 lakh, along with other production materials. Legal proceedings have been initiated, charging the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
