In a dramatic turn of events in Kolkata, police detained around nine junior doctors on Wednesday evening from a Durga Puja event where they were distributing protest leaflets.
The doctors are demanding justice for the RG Kar hospital victim, which has fueled ongoing protests. The officers took them to the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar.
The incident sparked larger demonstrations as more medics, already engaged in a fast-unto-death protest, rallied toward the police headquarters. Despite being stopped by authorities, they demanded the immediate release of their detained colleagues.
