CBI Court Delivers Life Sentences in Zia Ul Haq Murder Case

A special CBI court in Lucknow has handed down life sentences to 10 individuals for their involvement in the 2013 murder of Uttar Pradesh Police deputy SP Zia Ul Haq. The court found the accused guilty of murder and other charges, imposing a collective fine of Rs 1.95 lakh.
The incident occurred on March 2, 2013, when Haq, serving as the circle officer of Kunda, was fatally attacked in Pratapgarh district while investigating a murder. The situation escalated after two men killed local pradhan Nanhe Yadav, leading to a mob assault on Haq.
Throughout the investigation, the role of Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh was scrutinized, though he was not named in the charge sheet. Despite the charges against 12 individuals, only 10 were convicted, with one deceased and one acquittal.
