The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar reassigned senior IPS officer Shivdeep Lande to a new position on Wednesday. The officer had announced his resignation last month, citing personal reasons.
Lande, previously the IG of Purnea Range, will swap roles with Rakesh Rathi, the IG (Training) stationed in Patna. Despite announcing his intent to quit, the government has not accepted Lande's resignation.
Lande, known for his flamboyant persona and being from Maharashtra, sparked speculations of a political future when he revealed his intent to stay and serve in Bihar. His wife is the daughter of a former Maharashtra minister.
