High-Profile Naxalite Arrested in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur

A significant breakthrough in the fight against insurgency was achieved with the arrest of a 35-year-old Naxalite in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police confirmed on Wednesday.
Madkam Shankar, linked with the Maoist platoon no. 9 in the Jagargunda area, was detained by security forces during an operation in the forest between Pusbaka and Gaganpalli villages.
Shankar has been implicated in at least seven criminal cases, ranging from police attacks to IED detonations, underlining the ongoing efforts to curb Naxalite activities in the Bastar division, where more than 700 insurgents have been apprehended this year.
