In a pivotal ruling, a Delhi court has found five men guilty in a high-profile attempted murder case from 2015. The verdict dismantled defense claims of police malfeasance, asserting the credibility of eyewitness accounts.
Justice Vishal Pahuja concluded the proceedings against those accused of stabbing a man in December 2014. Eyewitnesses provided testimonies that strengthened the prosecution's case, despite noted investigative lapses such as absence of CCTV footage and non-recovery of the weapon.
The court, however, ruled that these shortcomings did not undermine the evidence. The witnesses' accounts were crucial in establishing the defendants' presence and intention, leading to their conviction under sections 307 and 34 of the IPC. Sentencing discussions are slated for later this month.
