The Karnataka Lokayukta's move to prosecute 206 officials from 27 departments has stalled as the government drags its feet on granting the necessary permissions, officials reported on Friday.
Among the accused are 65 individuals from the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, 40 from the Revenue Department, and 25 from the Urban Development Department, as confirmed by official sources.
As of September 27, the number of implicated officials stood at 206, though this figure may fluctuate over time. A top Lokayukta official expressed frustration over the irony that the government itself remains a roadblock in prosecuting officials accused of accumulating wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
