India's Pivotal Role in Global Digital Public Infrastructure Development
India aims to aid the global south in developing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) through technology transfer, knowledge sharing, and advocacy of open-source technologies. Special Secretary Periasamy Kumaran emphasized the necessity of integrating technology, governance, and community for successful DPI outcomes, and the potential for international cooperation to scale these efforts.

India is set to support the global south in advancing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) by offering technology transfer and sharing its expertise, according to a Ministry of External Affairs official. The initiative could transform sectors such as financial inclusion and citizen service delivery.
During the Global Technology Summit, Periasamy Kumaran highlighted how DPI has matured from theory to practice over the past 15 years, driving public service improvements and promoting economic inclusivity. He emphasized the need for technology, governance, and community collaboration for efficient DPI development.
Kumaran noted that while challenges remain in privacy, data security, and digital divide issues, India's successful DPI models, including capacity building and cybersecurity cooperation, offer valuable insights. He called for international cooperation to ensure DPI systems are open, inclusive, and globally interoperable.
