The Allahabad High Court has instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to probe the death of a woman residing in Seattle, USA. This decision came after a plea from the deceased's mother, suspecting suspicious circumstances surrounding her daughter's death.
A bench comprising Justices Vivek Kumar Birla and Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal noted in their September 21 order that the CBI and the Department of Personnel and Training were evading responsibility by focusing on technicalities rather than investigating the case efficiently.
The deceased, who moved to the US with her husband after their marriage in 2020, allegedly died in a blast at their home. Her mother registered a dowry death complaint, prompting a CBI investigation recommendation as the incident occurred outside India.
