Central Railway Limits Platform Ticket Sales To Curb Year-End Crowds
The Central Railway is temporarily restricting platform ticket sales at 14 major stations in Maharashtra and Karnataka from December 29 to January 2, 2025, to manage crowds during the year-end. Exemptions are in place for certain groups. This follows a recent stampede incident at Bandra Terminus.

The Central Railway has announced temporary restrictions on platform ticket sales at key stations in Maharashtra and Karnataka due to anticipated year-end crowding. Starting December 29, these measures will remain effective until January 2, 2025, affecting 14 major stations.
Notable stations affected include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, and others in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Stations in Pune, Nagpur, Nashik Road, and Kalaburagi are also included.
The railway has announced exemptions for senior citizens, ailing individuals, children, and female passengers. This decision is partly a response to a recent stampede at Bandra Station, which left ten passengers injured amid a rush for unreserved trains.
