In an impressive display of skill, Punjab's Radhya Malhotra (6.5 points) surged ahead in the girls' section by defeating Andhra Pradesh's Vonti Sri Guruvarshini, who currently holds 5.5 points. The match took place during the seventh round of the National U-9 Open & Girls Chess Championship on Monday.

The boys' section also witnessed a tough competition as Aarit Kapil of Delhi, along with Nidhish Shyamal from Telangana and Ayaan Phutane representing Karnataka, emerged as joint leaders. Each of these players scored an impressive 6.5 points by the end of the eighth round.

The results of the Open category involved intense matches with Advik Agrawal drawing with Aarit Kapil and Arjun Singh losing to Nidhish Shyamal. In the girls' section, notable performances were seen from Divi, Bijesh, and Radhya Malhotra, marking a pivotal day in the championship.
