Uttarakhand CM Vows to Preserve State Demography Amid Anti-Conversion Law

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated his government's commitment to preserving the state's demography. During a commemorative event for the Rampur Tiraha firing martyrs, he emphasized measures such as anti-conversion laws and anti-encroachment drives. Dhami also announced plans for a stricter land law to prevent unlimited land purchases by outsiders.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday reaffirmed his government's commitment to preserving the state's demography. Speaking at a commemorative event for the 30th anniversary of the Rampur Tiraha firing incident, Dhami stressed that 'demographic change in Uttarakhand is a real threat' that must be addressed.

In his address in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Dhami highlighted key measures like the introduction of a strict anti-conversion law and an extensive anti-encroachment drive, which has reclaimed around 5000 acres of land. Additionally, he announced plans for a stringent land law to make it harder for outsiders to purchase unlimited land in Uttarakhand.

Dhami paid tribute to the sacrifices made by martyrs of the Rampur Tiraha incident, stating that the fight to preserve Uttarakhand's identity must continue with the same passion as the statehood movement. The chief minister also pledged to build statues for all the martyrs at the incident site and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.
