Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a crackdown on illegal land transactions in a bid to enforce strict land laws in the state, according to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office (CMO). Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal affirmed the government's commitment to these regulations, highlighting actions against individuals who misuse purchased land or violate land limits.
The Uttarakhand CMO specified that families owning more than 250 square metres of land illegally will have their excess land vested back to the state. Uniyal stressed the importance of public cooperation in preserving ancestral lands and participating in government initiatives. He urged citizens to adhere to the law and contribute to state development.
Uniyal further stated that any ineffective past amendments would be revised to align with public sentiments. He assured that protecting citizens' land rights is paramount and reforms are being drafted accordingly. The Subhash Kumar Committee and Chief Secretary Radha Raturi's team are actively incorporating public suggestions for the new land law, expected to be tabled in the next budget session.
