The Prayagraj Rail Division, part of the North Central Railway Zone, has issued a warning to a Uttar Pradesh-based farmers' union regarding ticketless train travel. The division informed the Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Union (ABKU) that strict actions would be taken as per the Railway Act if they traveled without tickets during their scheduled programmes from October 2 to 4.

The ABKU, based in Etah, has plans to organize multiple events in various cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, starting from October 2, 2024. These notifications were communicated via a letter dated October 1, addressed to the union's national president.

The communication reminded the union of Section 55 of the Railway Act of 1989, which clearly states that traveling without a ticket or without the authorized permission of a railway official is a punishable offense. The letter also forewarned that any financial or property loss incurred by the railways, or any untoward incidents, would make the union liable for further legal action.
