India's Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar dismissed the concept of an 'Asian NATO' proposed by Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, Jaishankar highlighted that India, unlike Japan, has never been a treaty ally of any country.

'We don't have that kind of strategic architecture in mind,' Jaishankar stated, addressing Ishiba's proposition. It was noted that India, Japan, the United States, and Australia are members of the Quad, established as a counterbalance to China.
