In the midst of a controversy over MUDA site allocation in Karnataka, the BJP spotlighted another contentious land allocation to a trust linked to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge's family in Bengaluru. The BJP accused Congress leaders of involvement in a 'land grab'.
Speaking at a press conference, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that the Congress government in Karnataka allocated 5 acres of land to the Siddhartha Vihar Trust, which is run by Kharge's family, under questionable conditions. Prasad demanded a transparent and honest response from the Congress president.
'It's surprising that the Siddaramaiah government allocated 5 acres of land to the trust in a high-tech defense area in Bangalore for setting up an R&D facility,' Prasad said. He added that the land was allotted shortly after new rules for R&D facilities were framed. The BJP expects Kharge to provide a clear response as the Lokayukta investigates the matter, which is also pending in court.
