On Tuesday, the Congress party criticized the government for detaining climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and several other Ladakhis. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi labeled the action as 'unacceptable' and emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must heed Ladakh's voice.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the 'arrogance' of the Modi government, accusing it of being consumed in power and detaining peaceful marchers from Ladakh. He termed this as 'cowardly' and 'deeply undemocratic'.

Over 120 individuals, including Wangchuk, were detained by Delhi Police while marching for Sixth Schedule status for Ladakh. Kharge argued that the Modi administration aims to exploit Ladakh's ecologically sensitive glaciers for corporate gains. He stressed that the struggle against the Modi government's despotism is ongoing.
