Surge in Russia's Use of Guided Bombs in Ukraine Conflict
Russia is increasingly deploying highly destructive guided bombs in its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, significantly impacting both Ukrainian military forces and civilian areas near front lines. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy calls for Western assistance to enhance Ukraine's defensive and long-range offensive capabilities against these devastating weapons.
In the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Moscow is dramatically increasing its use of highly destructive guided bombs. Over the past week, Russian forces have dropped over 900 such weapons, according to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
President Zelenskiy has consistently urged Western allies to bolster Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities to counter the threat of these guided bombs. These air-launched weapons, often modified Soviet-era ordnance, are cheaper and more plentiful than ballistic and cruise missiles, yet they deliver substantial destruction.
Given their range and precision, these guided bombs challenge Ukrainian defenses significantly. As the conflict progresses, Zelenskiy and other officials continue to advocate for more air-defense systems and greater offensive reach to target the Russian warplanes deploying these potent weapons.
