State minister Girish Mahajan on Wednesday called on officials in central Maharashtra's Latur district to implement precautionary measures to counter potential floods.

With the district experiencing heavy rainfall over the past two days, Mahajan, who serves as the guardian minister for Latur, assessed the situation, according to officials. As water levels in the Terna, Manjara, and other rivers have risen, the minister emphasized relocating people to safer areas if required. He also highlighted that soybean crops have been damaged by the rains and stressed the need for immediate damage assessment, officials reported. 'The district administration is already taking steps to manage a likely flood scenario. All officials are in the field,' confirmed collector Varsha Thakur Ghuge in a statement.

Zilla Parishad CEO Anmol Sagar stated that public announcements are being made to warn residents in villages located along riverbanks. The National Disaster Response Force is conducting disaster management training for locals across various district locations, officials added.
