On Wednesday, the Congress party criticized BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for expressing concerns over the staggering number of submissions received by the parliamentary committee scrutinizing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. Congress suggested that Dubey's stance indicates the ruling party's lack of faith in democratic processes.

Dubey had raised alarms about the nearly 1.25 crore submissions, suggesting a need for a home ministry probe into potential foreign influences, including the ISI and China. He argued that the overwhelming response could not have emerged organically from within India.

At an AICC press conference, Congress spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil stated, "They are making fun of democracy. If only 1.5% of people express their opinion and the BJP is pained by it, it shows they don't believe in democracy." Gohil suggested that BJP leaders intent on deflecting attention from issues like unemployment and corruption were keeping this controversy alive.
