Jayant Chaudhary Emphasizes Strengthening UP Police: Calls for Fear Over Encounters

Union minister Jayant Chaudhary on Tuesday emphasized the necessity for the Uttar Pradesh Police to become powerful enough that they do not need to engage in encounters. Chaudhary stressed that the mere 'fear of the uniform' should be sufficient to deter criminal activities.
Speaking to reporters at an event, Chaudhary, who serves as the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, advised caution among political leaders when commenting on ongoing police encounters until investigations are concluded. He reiterated the importance of a robust police force that can uphold the law without resorting to armed confrontations.
Regarding the upcoming bypolls in Uttar Pradesh, Chaudhary mentioned the collaborative effort of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), including the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). He noted that the selection of candidates and campaign strategies will be done in coordination within the alliance. By-elections will be held for ten assembly seats, with the dates yet to be announced.
